1. Nitrous Oxide – Also known as “laughing gas”, Nitrous Oxide sedation is a very effective way to help you stay relaxed and comfortable during a dental procedure. It is a very light form of sedation, which works fast and wears off quickly.
2. Oral or “pill” Sedation – Oral sedation is a wonderful option as it allows the patient to be comfortably sedated through an entire dental visit using just a small pill. You will remain awake throughout the treatment, but may fall into a light sleep, and have little or no memory of the treatment afterward. This sedation is great for longer, more complicated dentistry. The pill’s effects can last a few hours, and side effects are rare. With oral conscious sedation, you are required to be driven home by a companion at the end of treatment.
3. Intravenous or IV Conscious Sedation — Also known as “twilight” or “sleep” dentistry, you will be closely supervised by our board certified anesthesiologist or medical doctor. You will be in a state of extreme relaxation. Also, you will be able to respond to requests made by our doctor. What’s best is that you will have no memory of the procedure. This type of sedation is great for very fearful or nervous patients who want no recollection of the treatment.
4. General Anesthesia – This type of anesthesia is administered by our board certified anesthesiologist or medical doctor. Usually all of your dental treatment will be completed in 1 visit. You are “completely out” and monitored very closely by our professional team. With this great option, no needles are needed. Again, drugs are administered via intravenous and/or inhalation techniques.
